Marillac Health Centre, Grand Junction, Colorado
The new Marillac Health clinic (now known as PrimeHealth Plus) in Grand Junction, Colorado, is a 27,000 square feet community-based medical facility offering integrated healthcare services including medical, dental, behavioural and dispensary solutions all under one roof. Comprising 24 medical exam rooms, 16 dental operatories and five behavioural counselling centres, as well as a drivethrough pharmacy, the new complex services a broad cross-section of patients from the Mesa and Montrose counties regardless of their ability to pay.
Quality, affordable healthcare and medication is provided to all patients including those on Medicaid or self pay options, with a sliding-scale discount structure offered to patients below 200% of the federal poverty threshold. Consequently, the new facility is expected to treat at least three thousand more patients than the 48,000 annual visitors to the old one.
The campus-like complex is also the venue for CMU Tech’s new Dental Hygienist’s training programme offering an office, classroom and clinical training resource within the centre.
The fancy new facility needed a beautiful new boundary that would not only provide privacy and enhance the perimeter’s curb appeal, but also not require much care or maintenance itself. With over 50,000 annual visitors, beauty and longevity was key.
A FENCE THAT NEEDS NO CARE OR TREATMENT
Marillac Health (PrimeHealth Plus) Centre was designed as the ultimate one-stop shop for patient care and convenience. All building materials, including the boundary fencing, were intentionally specified for health and hygiene, decorative effect, as well as low maintenance and durability. The focus of the facility is on patient care and cleanliness, not caring for the fence!
Not only would the fence define the property’s perimeter, providing a beautiful boundary, it would also be required to withstand the inevitable wear and tear of weather and prevent degradation caused by rot, pests, moisture or sun damage.
Chamberlin Architects opted for the authentic timber aesthetic and superior performance properties of Eva-Last’s advanced bamboo composite fencing system, Evolver.
Offering a complete integrated, but most importantly durable and long-lasting solution that could be adapted for the varying levels of the lot, Evolver fencing was a natural choice.
The dark brown colour, Tiger Cove, was chosen to complement the Colorado landscape and hide dirt, while the powder-coated aluminium posts and post caps sport a fade-resistant black finish.
Jake England of the England Fencing Company erected the privacy boundary, simply sliding the textured wood-look composite boards into the corresponding channels of the 6’ft square aluminium posts embedded into concrete.
“The grooved posts just guide the boards into place, all we had to do was make sure they were level,” explained Jake, who commented on the ease of installation. “We used off-cuts from the post-covers to create a shim to level out the boards where the site was uneven,” he continued.
A matching 6’ft Evolver Gate kit was installed to provide access through the boundary fence, while lower 4’ft posts were used to erect another fence around the break area, for added privacy.

Fencing That’s Evolved With Technology
Evolver is a versatile, convenient and eco-friendly alternative to traditional wooden fencing.
Available in complete kits comprising of either square or octagonal post sets, that anchor interlocking composite boards in place, Evolver combines the best of composite technology with the corrosion resistance and reinforcement of aluminium in a highly customisable fencing solution.
It’s corrosion-resistant aluminium posts (treated and powder-coated), which can be sunken or used on a post mount, together with the other aluminium components – provide a sturdy, reinforced structure for extra rigidity and strength.
The fencing boards are made from a blend of bamboo fibre combined with recycled plastic, recreating the natural character, colour and charm of popular wood species in either Tiger Cove (dark brown) or Concrete Grey. These composite boards do not need the usual sanding, sealing or painting required for typical timber alternatives.
Matching accessories such as coated aluminium spacers, intermediate rail sets are also available to create semi-private or reinforced decorative finishes.
KEY INFLUENCER QUOTE
“This was my first time working with Evolver and even quoting was easy. I could easily calculate how many kits I needed for the area. I really think this is the fencing of the future,” England concluded.”
